Open day at the Fire Station for the families of the Canvey firemen in 1957. This visit took place in Long Road, in the building which until recently was the council offices. Some firemen and their families pictured here still live on the island. From left to right (in the back row) they are: Arthur Edwards, Harry George, Ken McQuarry, George Blackwell, Harry Emmes, Sonny Blackwell, Frank Griffiths, Mick Saunders, Harry and Johnny Whitcombe and Geoff Barsby (senior).
