The Girls' Rest Home / Girls' Bungalow
The Girls' Rest Home or Girls' bungalow, was opened by Miss Clara James on Whit Monday 1909. She believed that Canvey would provide the perfect atmosphere for the benefit of overworked and overstrained working girls. The bungalow on Lakeside path, near the Oyster Fleet public house, provided tranquil surroundings and the opportunity to relax.
